Ekphrasis

As I receive my daily offering,

a king who deserves only the best,

with nothing to be heard but the sound of trumpets,

the people gaze below in awe.

The tale of a bloodline is what brought me here,

for it takes no bravery to be where I am.

As I stop and stare with peasants at my feet,

I can’t help but wonder

will I be why we this culture goes under.

I chose this piece for many reasons, first off I was actually in awe when looking at the fascinating lines and cutouts in the artwork. Second off, there was so much possibility with the piece. So much that could be said rather.

Some of the most notable details are referred to in my Ekphrasis. For instance, the man and the woman kneeling before the rather important male. There is nothing that tells us that the important male is a king or anything even of the sort. This is why I believe my Ekphrasis portrays an interesting story from what were able to see in the piece.

The piece is actually representative of a gothic church and therefore would have to have a religious background and or meaning. A higherarcy setting most certainly gives a different but also artistic spin onto things which would be what led me to spin it this way.
